IMMIGRANT SOLIDARITY
OFFICIAL STATEMENT

As the Amazon Labor Union (ALU-IBT Local 1), we stand in unwavering solidarity with our immigrant coworkers against the escalating political attacks on immigrant communities. Amazon’s workforce is powered by countless immigrant workers—both documented and undocumented—who keep this company running every day. As politicians and corporations fuel fear and division, we reaffirm our commitment to defending all workers, regardless of immigration status.

Amazon has a long history of union-busting and worker exploitation, and we refuse to let them use immigration enforcement as another weapon of intimidation. In the last month, there have been verified reports of immigration authorities in the Amazon warehouse complex in Staten Island, New York where JFK8, LDJ5, and DYY6 are located. Additionally, ahead of last month’s NLRB union election at RDU1 in Garner, North Carolina, Amazon management sought to divide and terrorize workers by weaponizing immigration fears. They spread blatant lies, falsely claiming that if a worker voted against the union, CAUSE would report them to immigration authorities. In reality, it was Amazon itself wielding the threat of immigration enforcement to silence workers and pit them against one another. This calculated effort to exploit fear and break worker solidarity failed because we see through their tactics.

We refuse to be divided. Where Amazon sees us as disposable, we see each other as human beings, as coworkers, as brothers and sisters in the fight for justice. Our solidarity is transformational—it dismantles the barriers they build and forges an unshakable force capable of challenging even the most powerful corporations. No matter our origins or the languages we speak, we share the same fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity on the job. By standing together across all lines of difference, we are building a movement stronger than their fear tactics, stronger than their threats. That unity will break their divide-and-conquer strategy and make real change possible.

We call on workers, communities, and the labor movement to join us in defending immigrant rights as a core labor issue. A threat to one is a threat to all, and we will not stand by while our coworkers are targeted. We demand full protection, legal support, and a binding commitment from Amazon to never aid or abet the persecution of immigrant workers. These resolutions are not just demands—they are promises we make to each other. Our fight goes beyond any single workplace; it is a fight for power, security, and the right of the working class to stand together without fear. Amazon thrives on division, but we are building something stronger: a movement rooted in solidarity across all borders, backgrounds, and experiences. Together, we will create a workplace where every worker can stand up, speak out, and take back what is rightfully ours.

Amazon must publicly commit to non-cooperation with ICE, DHS, or any other immigration enforcement agencies.

Amazon must issue a clear, binding statement that it will not voluntarily share worker information, employment records, or access to its facilities with immigration enforcement agencies. This includes refusing to assist in investigations, raids, or deportation efforts against its own employees.

Amazon must refuse to allow immigration raids or audits in any of its facilities.

If ICE or any other agency attempts to conduct a raid or audit, Amazon must deny them entry unless legally required under a court-issued warrant. Managers must be trained to reject warrantless searches and notify affected workers and the union immediately if any enforcement actions are attempted.

No worker shall be terminated, suspended, or retaliated against due to their immigration status.

Amazon must not use immigration status as a reason for termination or workplace discipline. Workers must be protected from retaliation for speaking out about workplace issues, organizing with the union, or challenging unfair practices. Any worker facing termination related to immigration concerns must be given full due process and union representation.

Amazon must provide legal and financial support to any worker facing immigration-related retaliation.

If a worker is targeted due to their immigration status, Amazon must provide access to legal counsel and financial support for filing legal claims, appealing deportation proceedings, or securing alternative work authorization. The company must establish an emergency fund to support affected workers and their families.

Amazon must immediately end any use of E-Verify or other immigration enforcement tools.

Amazon’s use of E-Verify, a federal system used to check work authorization, disproportionately harms immigrant workers and contributes to workplace discrimination. The company must immediately discontinue its use and refuse to participate in any voluntary immigration verification programs.

Amazon must provide a clear, protected pathway for undocumented workers to regularize their status.

Amazon must work with legal advocacy groups to create pathways for undocumented workers to obtain legal status. This could include assisting with work permits, visa sponsorship, or supporting legislation that provides protections for immigrant workers. The company must also ensure that workers pursuing legal status do not face retaliation or termination.

Amazon must disclose any past or ongoing cooperation with ICE, DHS, or other immigration agencies.

If such cooperation has occurred, the company must provide records of any past information-sharing, raids, or audits, take steps to protect affected workers and publicly commit to ending these practices.

ALU-IBT Local 1 will organize know-your-rights trainings to empower immigrant workers.

Our union will provide regular training sessions to educate workers about their legal rights, including what to do if confronted by ICE, how to protect themselves from workplace discrimination, and how to navigate immigration-related challenges while organizing on the job.

ALU-IBT Local 1 will establish a rapid response network to support immigrant workers under threat.

Our union will create a network of workers, legal advocates, and community allies to respond immediately to any immigration-related incidents, such as workplace raids, detentions, or firings. This network will ensure that no worker faces these challenges alone and will provide direct support when needed.

ALU-IBT Local 1 will fight for strong contract language that guarantees protections for immigrant workers.

As we fight for our first union contract, we demand strong, enforceable contract language that prohibits Amazon from collaborating with immigration authorities, protects workers from retaliation, and ensures that immigration status cannot be used as a weapon against organizing. This will be a non-negotiable demand in our contract fight.
